Sigma Alpha Iota Tulsa Alumnae
Scholarships...
The Tulsa Alumnae Chapter offers several undergraduate scholarship opportunities for Sigma Gamma and Zeta A members. Applications will be sent to chapter presidents once they are open.
The Mary Bowles Memorial Scholarship is valued at $1000 and given every other year to a non-senior member of Sigma Gamma in good standing. Applicants must fill out an application and perform an audition for scholarship consideration. Auditions are held in the spring and are judged by the Tulsa Alumnae Scholarship Committee members. The Mary Bowles Scholarship fund was established in memory of Mary Bowles, a very active Alumnae member of the chapter from the 1960s until her death in 1999.
The Lucinda “Cindy” Harmon Memorial Scholarship is awarded in alternate years with the Mary Bowles Memorial Scholarship.
It is given to a non-senior member of Sigma Gamma in good standing. Applicants must fill out an application and perform an audition for scholarship consideration. Auditions are held in the spring and are judged by the Tulsa Alumnae Scholarship Committee members. This scholarship was established by Cindy’s husband, John, at her death in 2018.
The Genevieve Stout Palmer Scholarship is given each triennial to a non-delegate Zeta A members (from Sigma Gamma, Iota Alpha, or Kappa Rho) in good standing to cover expenses for the Sigma Alpha Iota National Convention. The winner is determined by an application, judged by the Tulsa Alumnae Chapter Scholarship Committee. The scholarship is awarded every three years in the spring before the summer triennial convention. The scholarship was made possible by a contribution from the family of Genevieve Stout Palmer, who was an active member of the Tulsa Alumnae Chapter from the 1950s until her passing in 1973.
